Move to Thermoset Transfer for Glass-Loaded Material Applications
As a derivative of compression molding, thermoset transfer uses a basic compression machine with a plunger and transfer chamber to allow for single- or multi-cavity molding. The material charge is pre-formed to a specific size and pre-heated prior to loading.
In glass-loaded material applications, such as bulk molding compounds, transfer molding can maintain fiber integrity better than injection molding. This process, however, can be labor intensive because it requires a full-time operator to load the preforms.
